How to grow thicker, crush-worthy brows

How to grow thicker, crush-worthy brows

It’s hard to wink at your crush confidently when you’re embarrassed by your brows! Our eyes are (hopefully) this first thing a guy will notice about us and if our sparse, over-tweezed eyebrows are hovering within sight, Mr. Right may walk right past us!

And we all know someone, if not ourselves, with terrible tattooed or drawn on brows that just scream “I’m a fake!” That’s almost just as embarrassing!

However, there are several things we can do to more naturally, and painlessly grow the luscious thick brows that are so popular among celebrities and the like these days.

So how do you grow thicker brows like Keira Knightley, Emilia Clarke, or Sarah Hyland? Here are 5 tips we give our clients to help them grow thicker, crush-worthy Bombay brows:

Tweeze no more!

You heard us! Hide the tweezers gals! Seriously! Put them in the deepest, darkest drawer in your bathroom because you’re not going to need them for a while. Resist the temptation to pluck any stray hairs for several weeks to allow them all to grow out. Let your brows have a healthy, natural growth cycle. Tweezing irritates the hair follicles and interferes with natural growth.

You wanted to know how to grow thicker brows and this is the first step. We know this might be a difficult first step, but think about your end goal and keep the faith that it’ll work!

Using brow make-up

When trying to grow naturally thicker brows we suggest avoiding make-up as this can clog pores and slow any natural growth. The same goes for lotions and creams in your brow area. We just want to give our brows space to breathe naturally.

However, in a true style emergency where you need perfect brows right now, you can use make-up to give the appearance of thick brows. An eyebrow tint gel dye can paint the fuzz and strays around your brows, making them darker and slightly tinting (read: staining) the skin underneath. This will give the appearance of fuller brows.

If it’s your first time applying brow make-up in this way, may we suggest booking an appointment with a Bombay brow beauty specialist first? Our Vancouver beauty bars offer many Bombay brow spa services, lessons, and beauty products to help! All the products we use on our clients are sold at part of our Bombay Beauty collection in our online brow store. This collection is 100% natural and plant-based. You can bring the heavenly scent of our rose and aloe vera collections home with you!

Look to your kitchen: Natural Oils

Coconut oil: It seems like coconut oil is the answer for almost everything these days, and we’re going to add brow growth to that list! Coconut oil is a natural conditioner, moisturizer, and contains nutrients including Vitamin E and iron which promote healthy thick hair. The fatty acids in coconut oil help protect your brow hairs from breaking, and the lauric acid is antimicrobial and prevents infection of the hair follicles.

To apply, dip a cotton swap in the coconut oil and apply directly to brows. It’s best to leave it on overnight and wash off in the morning.

Olive Oil: Olive oil is good for so much more than cooking and dipping focaccia bread into. The A and E vitamins in this oil help with hair growth too. When applied to the skin it stimulates naturally-occurring sebum production which aids in hair growth.

Pour 1 small drop on to your finger and massage into brows. It can stay on a couple of hours (Netflix binge anyone?) and then wash it off with an everyday facial cleanser and water.

Onion Juice: I can see your eyes start to tear up at the mention of onions going anywhere near your eyes! However, onion juice contains sulphur, selenium, minerals, vitamin Bs and Cs, all of which encourage hair growth. The acid encourages fast, denser growth.

To start, chop and blend onion to make a paste. Strain this paste to get the juice and, using a Q-tip, apply to your eyebrows. After an hour, soak a cotton ball in diluted lemon juice and wipe away.

Eat Foods Rich in Biotin

A big part of growing those crush-worthy brows has to do with what you put inside your body, not just on the outside. Look for foods rich in biotin: eggs, avocados, salmon, and peanuts.

Check food labels for sources of vitamin B and D. These vitamins help hair growth and can help combat the effects of any chemical-based makeup you wear.

A glass of water never hurt anyone, so hydrate ladies! Drinking at least 8-10 glasses every day can help flush out toxins from your body and improve hair quality and quicken growth.

The Bombay Brow secret: Caster Oil

Our favourite Bombay Brow secret to growing those long, thick, crush-worthy brows is caster oil! Castor Oil is enriched with proteins, fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins, which all help to nourish your skin and hair follicles. Black castor oil is the best.

If you have sensitive skin, your brow area may get irritated when you apply the castor oil. We always suggest, regardless of your skin type, test the castor oil on a small patch of skin elsewhere to make sure you don’t break out in a rash, hives, or other irritation from an allergic reaction or sensitivity.

Apply castor oil every day to your brows to promote healthy growth. Massage a few drops into your brows with your fingertips, keep in for 30 mins (just enough time for a short Netflix sitcom), then wipe off with make-up remover and wash your face gently with warm water.

No matter what combination of brow growth products and ingredients you use, it can take several weeks at least for your brows to thicken naturally. Sorry to say, but there are no overnight miracles. Eyebrow hairs only grow about 0.16mm every day!
